Sukhoi Su-35 fighter | Mysteries unfolded

Sukhoi Su-35 classified as heavy class super maneuverable 4++ combat aircraft NATO code named Flanker E.Once west considered as a mysterious fighter its actually an upgradation of Su-27 with aerodynamic refinements, enhanced avionics, greater range and more powerfull saturn 117s 3D TVC engines. The new aircraft has been thoroughly over hauled with a particular emphasis on airframe, avionics, propulsion and weapons system while maintaining a strong superficial resemblance to base model Su-27.extensive use of titanium alloys on the airframe bring it more strength and provide 6000 service hours/ 30 years of lifespan.

Su-35 features an advanced glass cockpit with two full-color multi function LC displays of MFI type.
Su-35's avioincs include powerful X-band multi-mode hybrid passive electroincally scanned array radar - Irbis E-it can track upto 30 aerial targets and engage 8 at a time.( range of over 400kms against 3m2 target size &90km against 0.01m2).Su-35's Irbis E radar can also perform aerial scanning while taking out ground targets simultaniously.Irbis E is also complemented by OLS-35 IRST to provide laser range finding,TV & Infra red detection over 90km range.(Note the fact that even stealth fighters are 'not invisible' to IRST)

The Su-35's weapons are  arranged in 14 hard points include longe range-short range A2A missiles, precision  guided- unguided A2G missiles, bombs,fuel-air bombs & rockets.Maximum 8 tons can be carried on these 14 hard points with a wing loading of 408 kg/m2.

First-generation jet fighter

Aircraft classified as first generation jet fighters are the first attempts at creation of military aircraft using jet engines. A few were developed during the closing days of World War II but saw very limited combat operations. The generation can be split into two broad groups: World War II era fighters such as the Me 262 and the Meteor and mature first generation fighters such as the F-86 used in the Korean War.

The "generations" of fighter aircraft are a relatively modern concept based on claims for "Fifth Generation". They are rough categories based on similar designs and do not correspond to a rigid definition.
The first operational turbojet aircraft, the He 178, was a German design that first flew in 1939. It was used as the basis of the later He 280, a design passed over for the Me 262. A similar British design, the Gloster E.28/39 had provisions for some armament, but the guns were not fitted on either prototype.
The plans for the first operational jet fighter, the Messerschmitt Me 262 Schwalbe were drawn up in 1939, and the airplane first flew under jet power in 1942. The Me 262 was not operational until 1944, and its effectiveness was crippled by the deteriorating infrastructure of Nazi Germany; the advanced materials needed for its engines were in short supply. World War II ended before jet fighters were common. The United States and the United Kingdom also had jet fighters operational before the end of the war. The British Gloster Meteor twin-engined high speed fighter was used to intercept Germany's V-1 flying bombs missiles over the British Isles and not deployed for combat over Europe until 1945 but still kept away from occupied territory to prevent the technology being picked up by the Germans or Soviets. By 1946 16 RAF squadrons were equipped with Meteors. The American Lockheed P-80 entered service in the closing phases of the war and was deployed to Europe but arrived too late to see any combat.
Early jet engines had poor acceleration, and the FR Fireball was a mixed-propulsion aircraft with a propeller in front and a jet engine in the back designed for use on an aircraft carrier. The Russian Mikoyan-Gurevich I-250 and Sukhoi Su-5 were similar concepts but used a motorjet instead of a turbojet and were not designed for carrier use.

Further experiments after the war with mixed propulsion involving at least one turboprop powerplant included the XF2R Dark Shark and the XF-84H Thunderscreech, one of the loudest aircraft ever flown. The Thunderscreech, however, was a much later design, being a contemporary of the clearly second generation F-104 Starfighter. None of these hybrid-propulsion planes saw combat or major use, though the Fireball was used operationally for two years.
By the 1950s, the next major group of fighter aircraft were planes that used air to air missiles as their primary armament and could routinely exceed the speed of sound in level flight. First generation fighters were limited to engagements in visual range, and the expected performance of new missiles, like the AIM-7 Sparrow, with semi-active radar homing, forced changes in aircraft design.

DefExpo 2014 | ARX-160 assault rifle

ARX-160 differ from previous issue like Beretta 70/90 weapon systems on several points. It features quick interchangeable barrels of 5.56 mm NATO,7.62x39mm and 6.8mm remington SPC easily changed by pressing the barrel release button.
Another interesting and unusual feature of ARX-160 rifle is that it has selectable left/right side ejection system.Currently Indian Army is testing this rifle as a replacement for INSAS rifle.

'Eurofighter Typhoon:The lethal weapon'

Eurofighter typhoon- one of the world's best 4/4.5 gen multi-role combat aircraft best known for its greater agility. The genesis of Typhoons dates backs to early 70's - to replace Jaguars and Harriers in service.Typhoon is designed and manufactured by a consortium of three companies under  Future European Fighter Aircraft programme-a multi-national collaborative effort between UK,Germany,France, Italy , and Spain. One of the early participant nation -France left the consortium and independently developed Dassault Rafale. Aerodynamically typhoons are unstable so it uses quadruply redundent digital flight control system to provide care-free handling .The typhoon employs a combined delta wing and canard structure( for better handling even at slow speed) with a wing area and fuel capacity similar to that of F-15 Eagle. The generous use of carbon fibre composites in the wings and fuselage, Titanium canards,Aluminium-Lithium alloy leading edges helps to reduce the weight of the aircraft and at the same time achieved high structural strength. The airframe rated to +9/-3 G at undisclosed combat weight. One of the best thing in typhoon is its state of the art glass cockpit incoporates a holographic HUD,3 color MFDs, HOTAS Control,Direct voice input system (the first production DVI system utilised in a military cockpit). The strength of typhoon is its most modern avionic pakage include Captor M radar (will be replaced by Captor E AESA )especially that in the RAF variants and excellent handling capability.Typhoon's first combat deployment was in libya 2011 both recon and Ground strike. For BVR combat typhoon's primary weapon will be Meteor and for close in combat typhoon will be armed with AIM-132.For ground strike operations typhoon's primary standoff weapon will be storm shadow cruise missile.currently typhoons are operated by 7 airforces world wide.

Combat proven French beauty

Dassault rafale- an agile omni role fighter aircraft designed to replace 7 types of combat aircrafts.Yeah omni role - she can be armed to take any task in ONE MISSION.! Really versatile & a true force multiplier. The best in rafale is her avionics-sensors; comprises of RBE2/AESA and 'SPECTRA'
Rafale show some impressive, remarkable tactical survivability rate during latest operations.
SPECTRA internal electronic warfare suite jointly developed by THALES & MBDA - the system is cornerstone of Rafales outstanding survivability against airborne as well as SAMs and other ground threats. Its fully  integrated with other systems to provide multi spectral threat warning capability against hostile radars and missiles.SPECTRA's threat library can be easily updated by users in their own country in full autonomy.Ofcourse SPECTRA one of the keys of Rafale's Superior situational awareness. As demonstrated in Libya and Mali; this high tech, day and night equipments can be used in a wide range of war scenarios.
Rafale is being produced for both French Airforce (B,C) and Navy (M).
During libyan conflict it was reported that Rafales typically conducted 6 hours sorties over libyan airspace armed with a mix of 4 MICAs and 4/6AASM Hammers + THALES Damoclès targeting pod and two drop tanks in 14 hardpoints.(Interesting thing in here is that Rafale was offered to Gaddafi forces but they would not order any.)

There are 3 variants of Rafales are available- Rafale B ( twin seater) ,C ( single seater ) both for airforce and Rafale M ( for navy- strengthened airframe, longer nose gear, tail hook, and weighs 500kg more that Cs)
